Keeping yourself in shape and in contact with current events
One of the biggest issues that newcomers to MUN face is that they often spend a lot of time learning the background behind a specific issue. However, many topics in conferences are simply current issues that our world is facing, so reading the news and just keeping yourself up-to-date with current events will save you plenty of time. I recommend that you subscribe to at least two or three different news sources to ensure that you are viewing current events from multiple perspectives as media can be biased. Below are a list of media sites that I find to be reliable, but feel free to add some of your own to your reading list. Moreover, I will add a guide on how to subscribe to mailing lists from newspapers, using the New York Times as an example. Also, note that some of these may not be actual newspapers, but rather media outlets that deliver news to you through articles or videos on webpages or television channels.
Although some newspaper subscriptions may cost money, I suggest you find a free option that will send daily news to your email so you can still be notified of current events. Instead of paying for subscriptions, I recommend you visit the main websites of =news sites that have you pay for subscriptions, although they may limit the number of articles you can read. This way you can save money and still get the news from the most popular sites.
Regarding bias in newspapers, it is almost impossible to find one that is not biased one way or another. However, what you can do is to just use a variety of news sources so that you can get a wide variety of information. This also helps you improve your analyzing skills since you will be looking at issues from a variety of perspectives.
